A Family Legacy
It all began with Hôtel de France and Café Des Colonnes, owned by our great-grandmother. In 1966, a fire led to a complete reconstruction, merging the two establishments into one: Les Colonnes, later taken over by our parents.
The veranda was rebuilt identically, incorporating the original two columns and the historic doors of Café Des Colonnes. Our family has always preserved the bistro spirit, attracting both local fishermen and notable figures of Île de Ré.
For over a century, Les Colonnes has remained an iconic establishment on the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré. Today, it is proudly run by Sophie and Caroline Cochard.

Bistro Service Hours
Lunch: 12 PM - 2 PM
Dinner: 7:30 PM - 9 PM
Closed: Wednesday (lunch & dinner) and Saturday lunch.

Whether it’s breakfast or an aperitif, take a seat on our terrace overlooking the Port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré. We are open from 8 AM to 10 PM!
Indulge in our savory buckwheat galettes and homemade sweet crêpes, or treat yourself to a refreshing ice cream sundae. And for those with a sweet tooth, don’t miss our signature house specialty: Île de Ré’s salted caramel!
